The Urology business of Boston Scientific Corporation is a leading developer of minimally invasive medical technologies used by urologists and urogynecologists to diagnose and treat a variety of urologic conditions such as:
- Ureteral Stones
- Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH)
- Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI)
- Pelvic Floor
Ureteral Stones:
We develop and manufacture devices for the diagnosis and treatment of such conditions as kidney stones, bladder stones, and ureteral strictures (narrowing of the ureter), via Ureteroscopy or Percutanoeuos Nephrolithotomy (PCNL)
Our medical devices for urinary Stone management are organized by procedure stages.
The type of device for each procedure step depends on the size and location of the stone in the urinary tract and depends on the preference and skill of the physician:
- Access the affected area using our efficient guidewires. For example: Sensor ® PTFE-Nitinol Guidewire with Hydrophilic Tip
- Dilatate the affected area with one of our access sheaths or balloons. For example: Navigator™ Ureteral Access Sheath Set
- Retrieve the stone (or stone fragments after performing lithotripsy) with one of our baskets. For example: Escape® Nitinol Stone Retrieval Device
- Allow better drainage by inserting a stent in the ureter. For example: Polaris™ Loop Ureteral Stent
Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH)
- The Prolieve® System is a next generation minimally invasive therapy for the symptoms of BPH. This dual-action thermodilatation technology simultaneously heats the prostate while dilating the prostatic urethra. The treatment is well tolerated by patients and most patients do not require post-treatment catheterization. Treatment can take place in the urologist’s office
- The HoLAP procedure utilizes the DuoTome™ SideLite™ 550 Micron Delivery System in combination with the VersaPulse® Powersuite™ 100 Watt Holmium Laser.
